We should be (in general) amazed by capabilities of human vision system after a few first meetings. However, we have seen various optical illusions in class, which -- in some sense -- could be considered as a limitation of our perception capabilities. Prof. John Daugman once asked the following question: should this "limitation" be part of our human-inspired vision algorithms? Or should we do our best to program our methods to avoid such errors? Or maybe it's not possible to avoid them? Don't answer right away. Spend some time on thinking about it. Tip: focus more on a brief discussion instead of providing a binary (yes/no) answer.
Prepare your response in a Google doc and share it with our TA Louisa (lconwill@nd.edu).
